Who this policy is from

GenJ4 is a commerce platform operated by Genesis J4 LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information — name, email address and password, so an account can exist and be signed into.
• Business information — the business name, description, products, pricing and any address you provide for shipping from.
• Content you upload — product images, descriptions and other material you put into your store.
• Messages — anything you send us when you ask for support.

Information that arrives through your store

• Order information — what was bought, the amount paid, and the delivery address and contact details a customer provides at checkout.
• Fulfilment information — parcel details, shipping selections and carrier tracking updates.

Information from connected services

When you connect a third-party account — for example a payment, shipping, accounting or social platform — we receive data from it limited to the permissions you grant, and only for as long as the connection remains.

Information collected automatically

We record technical and usage information needed to operate and secure the platform, such as log data about requests made to the service.

Payment information

Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We do not receive or store complete payment card numbers. We keep the record of a transaction — amounts, status and the processor’s reference — so that orders, refunds and reporting work.

How we use information

• To provide the platform: creating stores, listing products, taking orders, arranging fulfilment.
• To send transactional messages, such as order confirmations and shipping notifications.
• To exchange data with services you have connected, on your instruction.

When information is shared

• Legal requirements, where disclosure is required by law or needed to protect rights and safety.
• A business transfer, if the business is sold or reorganised, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.

Retention

We keep information for as long as an account is active and for as long afterwards as needed to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Records of completed transactions are kept for the periods the law requires, which can extend beyond account closure.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption of credentials for connected services and access controls limiting who can reach merchant data. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

Your choices and rights

You can:

• access and correct your account and business information from within the platform;
• disconnect a connected service at any time, which ends our access to it;
• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to delete your account and the personal information we hold, subject to records we must keep by law;
• object to or restrict certain processing, where the law where you live provides that right.

To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

If you are a customer of a store built on GenJ4, contact that merchant first — the information is theirs, and we act on their instructions. We will help them respond.

Children

The platform is intended for businesses and the adults who run them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
